"In Shanghai at the moment, because of a few positive cases, a zero-covid policy is again being followed and the city is being cordoned off. Those who are at work in the factory will stay inside until the lockdown ends," Michael Roedeske knows. But that's not all - the war in Europe is also having an impact.

Rising energy and material costs
The war in Ukraine has been leading to rising production and transport costs in the European market for a while now, including in the energy sector. The Retail Association of Europe (HDE) expects a second wave of price increases soon, in the double-digit percentage range. "Not only supermarkets are affected, but we also expect prices for our massage chairs to rise by up to 15% due to higher material costs, among other things," emphasizes Michael Roedeske. The owner and founder of Massagesessel Welt, with branches in Weinstadt and Leverkusen, already saw coming at the end of 2021 that supply bottlenecks would affect his business. He prepared his customers by advising them to order early. "Even now, I don't want customers who are thinking about making a purchase to have to involuntarily pay more in a few weeks," he says, explaining the background. The price increases in the transport of goods do not only affect transport from the Far East. "The last miles our products travel on their way to the customer are also affected," Roedeske is certain.
