Sore muscles after training

Sore muscles after training

Clinical study: Does massage treatment after exercise reduce delayed onset muscle soreness? A systematic review.

Research:
Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is a common problem after unaccustomed or intense exercise sessions, for which there is as yet no generally recognized treatment. Massage therapy is often recommended for relief, but there is uncertainty about its actual effectiveness. A review analyzed seven controlled clinical trials to evaluate the effect of massage on DOMS.

Results:
While many of the studies showed methodological weaknesses and the results were inconsistent, the majority of studies suggest that massage after exercise can noticeably relieve the symptoms of DOMS.
